Aker BP challenged by oil spill and mechanical issue at offshore field

Norwegian operator Aker BP has restarted production at the Alvheim offshore field after cleaning up a small oil spill and resolving a separate mechanical fault that had forced the temporary shut-in of the development.

The company said it has deferred about one month of production from the Alvheim area following unplanned downtime due to technical issues.

The downtime resulted from a malfunction in new equipment installed during maintenance activities in the previous quarter.
