Shock resignation: energy minister quits in top AsiaPac LNG nation

Papua New Guinea’s petroleum and energy minister has resigned in a surprise move that could destabilise the government and cause delays to planned LNG developments.

Local media reported that Kerenga Kua handed in his resignation on Thursday.

In a letter to the Prime Minister James Marape seen by Upstream, Kua was critical of the current government, saying he had witnessed declining standards and productivity in leadership and governance.
