Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been levelling “baseless allegations” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Adani issue and called him a “repeat offender”.
With elections in Karnataka scheduled for May 10, the ruling BJP is sparing no opportunity to return fire on the Opposition parties. Sitharaman, who represents Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, said that Congress party’s “unparliamentary conduct” and incessant demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani issues was responsible for lack of debate on bills tabled in Parliament. “It is their job to ask questions, we are ready to answer them… Congress is not doing its job as an Opposition,” she said.
