New Delhi: The central government has invited suggestions and comments on the draft guidelines for the implementation of the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at the installation of rooftop solar plants in residential sectors.

In an official memorandum from the ministry of new and renewable energy dated April 16, 2024, stakeholders, including renewable energy secretaries from all states and union territories, have been asked to provide feedback on the scheme set to benefit one crore households.

Launched on February 13, 2024, the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana comes with a substantial financial framework, totaling ₹75,021 crore. Stakeholders are expected to submit their suggestions by April 23, 2024, in the format specified by the ministry.

The program is detailed to encompass various components such as incentives for local bodies and awareness campaigns, with a dedicated financial outlay as outlined in the order. Execution will be through the National Portal (https://pmsuryaghar.mnre.gov.in), and the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under the scheme is available to all applicable submissions made on or after March 13, 2024.

Separate operational guidelines for the scheme’s implementation will be announced, positioning the initiative as a step towards enhancing solar energy adoption in residential areas and contributing to the country’s energy security and environmental goals.
