Oil price surges past $80 as concerns grow over Houthi response to US-UK air strikes



Global oil prices surged by more than 3% on Friday morning, breaking the $80.00 mark after overnight strikes by US and UK aircraft on military facilities used by Houthi militants in Yemen to target shipping traffic in the Red Sea.

The Brent forward-month future contract was up 3.46% at $80.09, while the West Texas Intermediate future had risen 3.65% to $74.65
