New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and HPCL Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to collaborate in renewable energy through sourcing of 250 megawatt (MW) round-the-clock renewable energy to meet the requirement of HMEL.
According to the official press release, both firms will also explore opportunities in the green hydrogen business and its derivatives such as green ammonia and green methanol.
As part of increasing its renewable energy portfolio NTPC has formed a fully-owned subsidiary, NGEL, which will take up renewable energy parks and projects including business in the area of green hydrogen, energy storage, and round-the-clock clean energy.
HMEL, is a joint venture between HPCL and Mittal Energy Investments, which is an integrated refining and petrochemical company in India. It is engaged in the business of petroleum and petrochemical products and operates the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery with 11.3-mmtpa capacity at Bathinda, Punjab.
