Biden presses pause on new US LNG export schemes

US President Joe Biden has paused the approval of new liquefied natural gas export projects Friday in a move that has drawn fire from the US oil and gas industry but could shore up support among core Democratic voters ahead of the November presidential election.

“My administration is announcing today temporary pause on pending decisions of liquefied natural gas exports – with the exception of unanticipated and immediate national security emergencies,” Biden said in a White House statement Friday.
