CSR arm of Redington Ltd sets up 67 biogas plants, renovates pond in TN’s Tiruvallur, ET EnergyWorld

Chennai: Technology solutions provider Redington Ltd, through its corporate social responsibility arm Redington Foundation, has installed 67 biogas plants in neighboring Tiruvallur district, the company said on Friday. The initiative aims to promote the use of biofuel as an alternative to fossil fuel, and enhance the availability of water for irrigation and drinking purposes.

The biogas plants would help the localities to convert organic waste into biogas, which can be further used for cooking thereby reducing the dependence on firewood and kerosene.

Redington Foundation also renovated a pond in Thandalacherri village in Tiruvallur district that is aimed to benefit about 1,000 households.

The project was implemented by Hand-in-Hand Inclusive Development and Services, a non-governmental organisation, working for rural development.

Redington Foundation also handed over four battery operated vehicles to collect and segregate waste at the panchayat. The vehicles would help improve the sanitation and hygiene conditions in the villages.

“At Redington Foundation, we are committed to driving positive impact at the grass-root level and improving the quality of life for people….we are hopeful that our efforts will enable people with better accessibility to renewable energy, clean water, digital literacy, and personal hygiene,” Redington Ltd, CEO, Ramesh Natarajan said.
